MIFFLINTOWN – In a partnership with Michelle Nutter of the Office of the Attorney General, Rep. John Hershey (R-Franklin/Juniata/Mifflin) will be hosting a seminar on scam prevention and protection on Thursday, April 18, from 2-3 p.m. at Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church, 287 Deerville Road, Mifflintown.

The discussion will focus on scams associated with charitable contributions, estate planning, family emergencies, home improvement, power of attorney, sweepstakes, account verification, Medicare cards, IRS, checks and money orders.

“Scams have become more prevalent than ever, so we must learn how to prevent these scams and protect ourselves from those who wish to take advantage of us and our finances,” Hershey said. “We also need to talk to our loved ones to be sure that they know the red flags commonly associated with scams.”

There is no need to RSVP for the event, but residents with questions are encouraged to call the Mifflintown district office at 717-436-6001.
