HARRISBURG – Rep. John Hershey (R-Franklin/Juniata/Mifflin) will be offering veterans affairs outreach hours in his district office at 28 Industrial Circle in Mifflintown on Wednesday, Jan. 16, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Scott Brenner, an accredited field service officer from the American Legion Department of Pennsylvania, will be available to assist veterans with a variety of issues.
“Only because of our veterans do we enjoy the freedoms we have today, so it is my honor to provide a service to them,” Hershey said. “Talking to an accredited field service officer often results in veterans and their families learning about programs and benefits that they didn’t know were available. Connecting these men and women with these services is critical and a sincere way to thank them for their service.”
Brenner will assist veterans in filing VA claims for disability compensation, disability increase and rating decision appeals; veteran or surviving spouse pension; burial and death benefits; addition of dependents; dependency and indemnity compensation; as well as other veterans’ benefits. Veterans do not need to be a member of the American Legion to receive these services.
Appointments are encouraged but not required. Please call Hershey’s district office at (717) 436-6001 to schedule an appointment with the field service officer or with any questions.
