5/1/2019
HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) this week announced grants to be used in improving school safety and security as well as preventing violence in communities, said Rep. John Hershey (R-Juniata/Mifflin/Franklin).

Grant recipients within the 82nd District include:

• Fannett-Metal School District for $355,053.
• Franklin County Career and Technology Center for $65,000.
• Juniata County School District for $169,825.
• Mifflin County School District for $530,550.

Additionally, the Juniata County Violence Prevention and Reduction program was awarded $165,606.

These grants are part of Act 44 of 2018, which allowed for school safety and security assessments. It also designated $60 million to be disbursed in 2018-19 to school entities.

The grant dollars can be used for equipment, trainings, programs, counseling services, and to secure school resource or police officers.

“I’m thankful schools and programs within the 82nd District are recipients of these grants. There is nothing more important than protecting children in our society,” Hershey said. “I appreciate school leaders taking the time to identify potential vulnerabilities in their buildings and address those vulnerabilities with these grants.”
